Bread Baking Babes get their (knickers? panties? dough?) in a twist

I dearly love pretzels.

We don't see them here in France.

Crêpes, yes; pretzels, non!

I always treat myself to one when I'm in the US – I go to the Mall of America ad buy a pretzel.

I could make my own.

That is what Elle, of Feeding My Enthusiasms, had the Bread Baking Babes doing in the kitchen this month.

According to her research "into the past…610 AD in fact… we can decide if we believe that these bread morsels were used by monks of that time to teach little boys to pray or to reward them for staying quiet during Mass…or both. That's the story behind Soft Pretzels, called Bretzels in German."

I grab the salty ones myself, but the sugar and cinnamon option is looking pretty tempting.

You decide.

Visit Elle's blog for the recipe and the details on being a Bread Baking Buddy this month.
