Swedish Rye Bread

Christmas in March?

Apparently that is what your kitchen smells like when baking this lovely bread.

Astrid, of Paulchen's FoodBlog?! is our host kitchen this month and she's rather fond of rye flours.

This recipe is from the Tassajara Bread Book by Edward Espe Brown

She tells us it "is nearly a no fuss bread at all and comes with some real nice flavors too: a slight hint of orange, anise and caraway will tickle your tastebuds when you bite into your sandwich made out of a Swedish Rye…"

Doesn't that sound delicious?

I can't decide which would be better: Toasted with peach jam or a Reuben with corned beef and sauerkraut.

I could have both…..

Visit her blog for the complete recipe and all the info, as well as details on becoming a Bread Baking Buddy this month.

In the meantime, scroll down and drool…..

  1. Wow it really is stunning to see how different our breads look this month!
Now, maybe I like the Rueben the best but really it was beautiful with cream cheese, egg in the hole, hot pepper jam AND even peanut butter! Corn Beef Rye will be our carry on lunch for our airplane ride this week 🙂

  2. Val, me too – they all look so good!
Thanks, Natashya, it’s a very pretty collection
Tanna, you can take food on the plane?!?!? Wow, next time…. Have a great trip – return to the north?
