Shepherd’s Bread – The Babes do it again!

Bread Baking Babes bake in a cloche.

More specifically, the Babes were brave enough to put a cold cloche in a hot oven.

On the advice of Karen, of Bake My Day.

The original recipe, from Basque country, was baked in an iron pot, tucked into embers and covered with dirt.

Karen, our host kitchen of the month, made this lovely bread several times, with different flour and variations…. Using a cloche.

Read all about her bread and find the recipe on her blog as well as the details on becoming a Bread Baking Buddy this month.

In the meantime, scroll down and drool…..

  1. Yup, Lien’s is posted now. It’s so great to see these all together on one page! Isn’t it amazing how alike they are, when you consider that we all fooled around just a little with the ingredients (some of us -cough- fooled around a bit more than others)

  2. Pam, they do look lovely, don’t they?
Elizabeth, got it… the are all beautiful
    Tanna, it’s easy
    Astrid, they did – thanks…
