Red-Cooked Cod with Fennel, Carrots and Leeks, the update

It’s official….

Grilling season is over.

Daylight saving time is over

Fuel is being delivered tomorrow.

We have a fire in the fireplace.

The mice have all moved in….

Summer is over.

To celebrate I made mon mari’s favorite: Fish!

Okay, he hates fish…. but he loves anything stir-fried so it was a compromise.

Mon mari agreed that he may have to stop referring to Friday as ‘Fish Hell Night’.

He was pleased.

I was pleased that he got the radiator installed – since we’re on the cusp of winter and all.

The ceiling is finished in the pantry – except for the trim.

But nothing much else is getting done.

Mon mari is spending his time elsewhere.

He has a job.

You know, that thing where one does work for someone else in exchange for money.

He was worried about getting bored.

He does hate to be bored…..

On another note – I thought you’d like to see my new little buddy. I think I’ll name him Algernon…..

He went up the drapery with no problem but, apparently, coming down was more challenging.

I’m sure it had nothing to do with 1 human and 2 dogs waiting for him.

  1. Katie – love the update, love the delicious cod dish…the mouse? Not so much. What the heck did you do with him??? Hope he is now outside finding a new home!

  2. Hard to imagine either one of you getting bored, what with all your activities, plus mouse catching! Good luck!

  3. Ina, he ran under the cabinets… We set the trap….. nothing.

Joanne, time goes much too rapidly LOL

Pam, I’m not worried about being bored… I would like a little time to relax though…
