There was nothing better, in my opinion as a child, then walking into the house after school on a cold, blustery winter day and smelling cinnamon.
My mother loved to bake and Cinnamon Rolls were a specialty. The only thing better were the more decadent Caramel Rolls (cinnamon rolls nestled in a layer of caramel before baking). They were big (4 – 5 inches high), sweet, tender and flaky.
So….. Why would anyone make cinnamon rolls and not use cinnamon????
Because we’re Babes, that’s why!!!
Directions are for amateurs and tradition is for wusses.
The Bread Baking Babes follow their own path.
Well, I should correct that to ‘paths’ as no Babe would ever consider doing something remotely similar to another Babe.
Where would the fun be in that?
Karen, of Bake My Day, our host kitchen for the month, discovered this recipe, or something similar, baking with her sister.
It uses 3 different leavening agents, which intrigued her. Check out Bake My Day for the reasons why.
She decided this would be a great bread for the Babes to bake. Then, for some bizarre but perfectly logical reason, she decided that there should be anything BUT cinnamon in these ‘Not a cinnamon roll’ rolls.
She made them three different ways – just ’cause it was so much fun.
Visit Bake My Day for more info, the recipe and the scoop on being a Bread Baking Buddy this month.
Than have a look at the creative ways the Babes followed their directions…. or not.
And that’s it for the Babes in April….
