Garlic Paprika Chicken, Secret Recipe Club

Welcome to another month of the Secret Recipe Club – I chose and make a recipe from another food blogger.. .SRC-300x75

This month I got to explore My Hobbie Lobbie.

Trisha lives on the other side of the world from me – almost.

She’s in Sidney, Australia and she cooks and bakes and crochets and does all sorts of crafty things.

She has hundred of recipes on her blog, a large portion of which are for sweet treats. I see home-made Peanut Butter Cups in my future…. Next Christmas, maybe.

For this spring I chose Garlic & Paprika Chicken.

Surprisingly (for me) I only modified it slightly…. I had originally thought that 1/4 cup of oil would be too much, but once I added the garlic and paprika, it was quite thick and I needed the 1/4 cup.

Garlic Paprika Chicken

Total time: 40 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 3 chicken thighs
  • 3 chicken legs
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 tbs smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp celery salt
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup (4 tbs) olive oil

Garlic Paprika Chicken

Instructions:

  • Put all ingredients except chicken in a large bowl and mix well.
  • Add chicken and coat well.
  • Lay chicken in a shallow roasting pan, skin side down, and bake 400F (200C) for 15 minutes.
  • Remove chicken from oven, turn over, return to oven and bake 15 minutes longer.
  • Remove and serve.

This was really, really good chicken…. Lots of garlic flavor with just the right amount of paprika. I’m going to do it on the barbecue as soon as the weather gets warm – again. I think I’ll let it marinate for 30 minutes or so before grilling. I’ll let you know…..

Trisha has lots of great sounding recipes from all over.

I grew up in Wisconsin but have never heard of Wisconsin Cauliflower Soup. It is on my list to make next winter when we are back to soup season.

I can’t wait to try Original Bombay Samosas! I do my version all the time and it will be nice to do (attempt) the real thing.

Then there is Thai Chicken Salad and Puffed Rice Salad and Chicken Skewers (also for the grill).

Her Indian Bean and Spinach Bake looks like a great addition to a dinner party menu – it serves 8.

I’m not even going to touch on all the wonderful sweets and desserts….. Check it out yourself.

  1. This sounds great and I bet it would be a winner if I made it with some chicken wings instead. I have some lovely smoked paprika that is begging to be used, and I love, love, love garlic.

  2. Paprika… such a great spice, I love it!

Nice job on your assignment this month…. I hope you are having a great Reveal Day!

  3. This chicken looks so good. I was just wondering if you let it marinate for a bit when I saw your comment about trying that next time. I bet it would be even better on the grill. Definitely trying it this summer.

  4. Trisha, we loved it! It’s the hubs new favorite!

Sid, chicken wings – good idea! A big batch to have on hand for snacking.

Emily, do try it…. I love paprika, too and buy big tins of it.

sallybr, it goes into almost everything I make.

Wimpy Vegetarian, the garlic and paprika were a great combo

bcmom, I didn’t marinate it for the oven, but the grill would cook it faster so I would. I might also put half of it under the skin…. 😉
