Beignets, brought to you by the Bread Baking Babes

It’s been hot here.

Apparently it’s been hot everywhere (almost).

Actually, I just read that, once again, our temperatures have broken a new record with this past July now being the hottest month ever.

Well done humans!

Back to the beignets….

Elle, of Feeding my Enthusiasms, our host kitchen for the month took pity on us Babes (well, at least the Babes who bake / Babes without AC) and chose a bread that did not require an oven.

She’s been reading a book set in New Orleans and has been BBB-logo-august-2016-300x298craving beignets.

Combine the craving and the hot air and she came up with the perfect challenge for the Babes.

There is, as usual, quite a diverse collection among the Babes – fillings of cheese, banana, blueberry…. Sprinklings of powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar, Parmesan cheese…

Check them out – and stop by out Feeding my Enthusiasms for more info and the recipe for the Beignets... Plus get the details for being a Bread Baking Buddy this month.

  1. It really is a bit horrifying how hot it is, isn’t it? And until yesterday, we have had virtually no rain. It’s getting so it’s harder and harder to keep my head firmly buried in the sand (when I don’t emerge to scarf down a few beignets).

“The scary thing is that we are moving into an era where it will be a surprise when each new month or year isn’t one of the hottest on record” – Chris Field PhD, climate scientist, Carnegie Institution for Science, Stanford University

“NASA’s five hottest months on record are July 2016, July 2011, July 2015, July 2009 and August 2014. Only July 2015 was during an El Nino. Records go back to 1880. This is the 10th record hot month in a row, according to NASA.” – Seth Borenstein, “July 2016 hottest month in history of record keeping, says NASA”, Toronto Star, 16 August 2016

  2. ♪♫ Beautiful, beautiful beignets……. beautiful, beautiful, beig-neeeets… beautiful, beautiful beignets, I’ll never, love donuts, againnnnnnn… ♪♫

  3. Babes, the beignets are all beautiful…. but right now I can barely think about having coffee it’s so hot here. But wouldn’t they be good with hot chocolate in front of a fire in winter? LOL

  4. Great roundup! It’s fun to find all the beignets in one place. (I might be able to suffer the heat if I had the chance to live in France!)
