Kare Pan, aka: Japanese Curry Buns – Bread Baking Babes do Easter?!?

The Bread Baking Babes are doing something savory, rather than sweet (or, heaven forbid, plain) this month.

And deep-fried.

And absolutely nothing to do with Easter.

The Babes are an adventurous group and this month’s bread is a favorite snack food in Japan with an Indian twist.

Why not?

Aparna, of My Diverse Kitchena Vegetarian Blog and our host kitchen this month, has long wanted to try making Japanese Curry Buns.

If she wanted to make them surely the rest of the Babes would want to as well, right?

They loved them!

Some are baked, most are fried; some are spicy, some are spicier.

That’s the beauty of these little round beauties…. As long as you follow a few simple rules you can be as creative as you like.

You’ll find all the details, the main recipe, instructions, and the info for being a Bread Baking Buddy this month at My Diverse Kitchena Vegetarian Blog.

You’ll find all of the various ways the Babes were creative on the individual blogs below.

Have some fun!

  1. Elizabeth, now that you mention it,,,, Hot, yes, buns, yes…. it’s the cross I haven’t worked out.

Thanks Karen, and such diversity! They’re all beautiful!

    • That’s why I added the cross with deft (or not so deft) slashing just before cooking! And, I suppose, you could say that I was a bit cross that the cross didn’t show up very well….
