Sausage Stew

I used 4 smoked sausages, cut into 3rds but kielbasa or ring bologna would work…. or any favorite sausage.


  • 10oz (300gr) sausage, sliced into 2″ (5cm) lengths 
  • 1 onion, thickly sliced
  • 2 large carrots, cut lengthwise in 4ths, then into pieces
  • 10oz (300gr) potatoes, cut slightly larger than the carrots
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 3 tbs whole grain mustard
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tbs cornstarch (maizena) dissolved in 2 tbs water


  • Put sausage, potatoes, onions, carrots in the Instant Pot
  • Combine paprika, thyme, mustard, chicken broth, and add to pot, stirring to combine.
  • Secure cover, set Instant Pot to High Pressure for 4 minutes.
  • Natural release for 5 minutes then quick release.
  • Set the Instant Pot to Sauté for 3 minutes.
  • When the sauce is bubbling, add the cornstarch mixture, stirring gently to thicken.
  • Spoon into a large bowl and serve


You could add 1 tbs of tapioca with the chicken broth before cooking and skip the last step.
