This month our intrepid bread Baking Babes journey to Hungary for another flavorful, filled, rolled bread.
Do I detect a trend?
Perhaps they are just celebrating the possibility that the world might open up a little bit, some day soon, to allow actual travel.
Dare I say…. Whatever. The bread looks fantastic and that’s what we really care about.
As this is called Hungarian Almond Roll the Babes were slightly more restricted in the ingredients they used.
But only slightly.
They all used almonds.
As to following the rest of the recipe – Well, they ARE Babes.
Elle, of Feeding My Enthusiasms and our host kitchen for this month, went back 2 decades to retrieve this recipe. It’s from Sunset Magazine, 2001.
I kind of remember that magazine…. To be honest, I haven’t seen an actual, paper magazine in years. The tabloids at the supermarket checkout don’t count. But I remember Sunset as having gorgeous photos that were not at all like our houses and gardens in the Midwest.
No idea why they called it Sunset…..
Back to the bread:
Have a look at what the Babes did this month – and what they did differently (blueberries or raisins?).
If you want to give this rolled bread a bake, head over to Feeding My Enthusiasms. You’ll find the recipe, easy instructions, and helpful hints…
In the meantime, have a look at what the Babes did this month…. Try not to drool on your computer.
And that’s it for the Babes in June.
Stay Safe, Healthy & Patient and get your shot when you can.
Wear your mask when you have to and enjoy yourself defiantly.
