We’re back on regular time again, thankfully. I hate getting up in the dark.
I like the sun to wake me up – and I like that to be in the morning. I’m not a morning person and I need all the help I can get.
There are other signs of impending winter chez nous. The weather has finally gotten close to normal temps, after unseasonable warmth for 2 weeks. The doves started nagging me last week so I put the bird feeder out for them. Mon mari is finishing his fall chores.
And I made soup.
I did the chickpeas in the Instant Pot as I wanted some for a tagine as well. Plus I like them better. Purchased will be fine in the soup.
This soup doesn’t have tomatoes in it – blame it on the abysmal harvest.

The last 2 photos of the last ride on the canal of this year…. maybe.
With no boats on the canal, and no wind, it was all very calm and the light through the trees was stunning.

This is the only set of locks on the canal with a little building like this. It looks like a toll-collector booth.
There is a bigger ‘house’ where the person minding the locks would live so I have no idea what this little shack was for.

The ‘house’ is being remodeled into a café and, as there were people working on it, I didn’t take a photo.

Beautiful pictures! And the water is like a mirror. I love water and calm days like that. I just love water 🙂
It hit 65 today so I had my Mustang out for the last ride before putting it in storage for the winter and dropping the insurance down. Crazy weather, I think this is the latest I’ve been able to take it out. Usually it’s in storage around the first week in October, but it’s been weirdly warm the past few days. We also turn our clocks back this weekend. I hate Daylight Saving time. I really do. It will take me three weeks before my internal clock finally figures things out. I really wish they’d make up their minds.
We lived on a lake in MN and the rare, calm day in autumn was always beautiful with all the colors reflecting.
I would be happy if it was permanent regular time. I would absolutely hate permanent daylight saving time. Human clocks are geared to regular time – duh! We changed last weekend and I was very happy to be able to get up in daylight (almost) again, at a bit after 7.
The canal looks absolutely amazing in the stillness of the season !
It was beautiful… I drive V crazy, constantly stopping to take photos lol
