The Bread Baking Babes have been baking for 16 years.
Some have been baking more than others but everyone is celebrating the anniversary.
I’m celebrating by getting out my bread baking dictionary. As Curator Babe, rather than Master Baker Babe, some of the terms used to describe this bread…. eluded me.

But I am rather fond of black sesame seeds…
As a proper tribute to 16 years in the dough, Kelly, of A Messy Kitchen, and our host kitchen for this month, chose something to showcase the Babes skills.
The rest of the Babes had no problems at all and made some wondrous loves.
Don’t worry… if you want to bake this lovely bread, and (like me) aren’t familiar with the differences between tangzhong based dough and yudane based dough, Kelly explains it all very nicely.
To try your hand at this check out A Messy Kitchen. You’ll find the recipe, lots of photos, and all the details for baking along this month.

That’s it for February…

I totally need to get my hands on some of that black sesame tahini! It made such strikingly fabulous swirls!
The swirls really were fabulous! I assume they tasted wonderful, as well.
Big bread baking words ! Bread looks just as impressive as the new vocabulary!!!
New to me, too!
A swirl wonder! Black sesame tahini, on a search. Sixteen years and these Babes can bake.
I have black sesame seeds but have never seen black tahini…. Now I have to look!
Oh my. I really must try again. Just look at the beautiful loft on all the other BBBabes’ shokupan! (I love the Yudane method too.) I might even see if one of our specialty shops in this World Class city {cough} sells black sesame seeds.
The loft really was impressive – along with the swirls.
Thanks Katie! I am definitely going to have to give the swirl a go.
I may have to try this one, too.
