It’s official: grilling season has started.
Can summer be far behind? (I sincerely hope not….)
My herb garden was a disappointment this spring.
The fat row of chives that was doing so well last year didn’t come back. A few spindly ones from a new planting slowly started growing, but it’s not providing me with the usual spring abundance.
Caprese means ‘in the style of Capri’.
The word normally refers to the famous Caprese Salad of ripe tomatoes, mozzarella di bufala, and fresh basil leaves.
I’m pretty sure burgers are not common food in Capri, but I’m taking poetic license in naming my burgers.
am using all the correct ingredients…. I just added a bit of beef.
Think of it as spring meat loaf.
You can even do it in the oven if you like…. But we prefer it on the grill.
I cook the green garlic first so we can cook the hamburger to medium, rather than well-done.
Yes, we still eat our hamburgers medium…. And our steaks rare.

We used to get ‘London Broils’ when we lived in the U.S. that were great on the grill…. Just a light sprinkle of seasoning was all they needed – and maybe some bottled Barbecue sauce if you are so inclined.
They were inexpensive, cooked quickly and were great for midweek dinners.
Here we get a cut called a Faux Filet.…
Flavorful burgers, filled with chopped mushrooms, are served with sautéed mushrooms and onions.
We normally eat burgers with a fork and a glass of red.
Feel free to have them on a bun with a Mountain Dew.
Total time: 20 minutes
12oz ground beef (360gr mince)
4oz (120gr) mushrooms, divided
1 onion, thickly sliced 4 tsp Worcestershire
The weather is crap – too cold, wet, windy, whatever to do any work outside.
Our visitors are gone.
That means I’ve had 3 days of uninterrupted computer time.
Although it wasn’t nearly as much fun as having friends to play tourist with, I did accomplish rather a lot.
Which is good, because I have 3 weeks of French homework …
