Lamb with Snow Peas and Feta; the update

Thyme for Cooking Posted on April 15, 2013 by Katie ZellerOctober 10, 2017

When one makes a leg of lamb, and one is only feeding two, there are lots of leftovers.

First we had the risotto.

Second we had this stir-fry with a Greek twist.

Equally good.

 Ingredients:

  • 10oz (300gr) leftover cooked lamb, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 3 shallots, sliced

Pasta with Yellow Tomatoes and Red Peppers; spring

Thyme for Cooking Posted on April 5, 2013 by Katie ZellerOctober 23, 2017

I had such a fun time last summer…. chopping and freezing all the lovely green and yellow and orange and white tomatoes.

I also froze lots of red Roma’s, which are all gone.

Actually, everything is almost all gone.

I put all the pretty colored tomatoes to good use over the winter.  I used the orange in a Smoked … Continue reading.....

Moroccan Turkey Stir-Fry on Barley; Social Media

Thyme for Cooking Posted on March 6, 2013 by Katie ZellerOctober 21, 2017

I’m getting tired of winter cooking.

I long for salads and tomatoes and zucchini and anything cooked on the barbecue grill.

This happens in reverse in September, when I can hardly stand even the thought of one more meal from the grill!

Then I long for stews and soups and braises.

I tend to compromise on the cusp of these … Continue reading.....

Savory Sautéed Potatoes; the update… such as it is

Thyme for Cooking Posted on May 2, 2011 by Katie ZellerOctober 14, 2017

Well…

We moved into our new bedroom.

It was wonderful to be back in our very own water-bed again

Bed

I haven’t found all the bedroom stuff yet – so the shelves are still mostly empty.

On the other hand, I also haven’t found room for all the stuff that is unpacked, so I guess that evens things out.

We still … Continue reading.....

Turkey Rolls Stuffed with Pimientos and Feta; the update

Thyme for Cooking Posted on April 11, 2011 by Katie ZellerOctober 13, 2017

Aren’t you tired of seeing photos of our bedroom floor yet?

This is the last one before we move up…. So exciting!

We’ll clean, first.

Bedroom

He just has that little strip by the doors to finish – and then, of course, all the trim….

Which he assures me will go very fast.

It had better.  We’re meant to be moving … Continue reading.....

Barley with Feta, Greek Olives and Browned Shallots; the cook top

Thyme for Cooking Posted on March 24, 2010 by Katie ZellerAugust 12, 2013

The cooktop….

The saga continues.

I was nice.

Much as I enjoy ranting and raving, most people seem to prefer not to be on the receiving end of said rants and raves.

So, I was nice.

I handed over all of the prior paperwork, apologized for my poor language skills, and said that I would like to exchange the cooktop.  … Continue reading.....

Potato Feta Cakes; Have we lost the Race?

Potato Feta Cakes

Warning; Warning;

The usual attempt at a humorous anecdote has been replaced by a philosophical reflection.

The world will correct itself by morning.

Good recipe at the end, though….

Chicken and Spinach Pasta: The Visit of the Ham Truck

Thyme for Cooking Posted on March 26, 2008 by Katie ZellerOctober 23, 2017

Chicken and Spinach Pasta

One of my favorite passages ever put on paper was written by Bill Bryson.

I think it was in “Notes from a Small Island”.

To summarize it briefly, he writes about being all alone, in the kitchen of his house in the country, early one morning.

No one’s around.  No one is expected.  It’s private.

He’s … Continue reading.....
