Shrimp, Feta & Greek Olives on Spaghetti; birthday girls

Thyme for Cooking Posted on March 25, 2019 by KateFebruary 24, 2020

This is a re-post – although I made it for us just last week. We’re rather fond of this dish….. As I am ‘not feeling 100%’ as the Brit’s would say I decided to do an easy recipe. Shrimp with a Greek flavor:  tomatoes, dry or salt-cured black olives and finished with Feta cheese. The feta I get is sheep’s milk (brebis – traditional) and comes in blocks.  Add it … Continue reading →

Lamb with Snow Peas and Feta; the update

Thyme for Cooking Posted on April 15, 2013 by KateOctober 10, 2017

When one makes a leg of lamb, and one is only feeding two, there are lots of leftovers. First we had the risotto. Second we had this stir-fry with a Greek twist. Equally good. Lamb with Snow Peas and Feta Total time: 30 minutes  Ingredients: 10oz (300gr) leftover cooked lamb, cut into bite-size pieces 3 shallots, sliced 1/2 red bell pepper, sliced 4oz (250gr) mushrooms, trimmed and sliced 3oz (90gr) … Continue reading →

Greek Chicken on Orzo; Conversations

Thyme for Cooking Posted on November 9, 2011 by KateAugust 11, 2013

Men are from Mars; Women are from Venus? I don’t think so…. I think it’s more like: Men are from Pluto; Women are from Earth. How can a simple, straight-forward conversation go so awry? We weren’t discussing anything technical, esoteric or even the slightest bit complicated. It was about a rodent! First, the set-up: I normally let the girls out through the barn in a misguided and fruitless effort to … Continue reading →

Braised Pork Loin with Red Wine and Olives; the Update

Thyme for Cooking Posted on October 18, 2010 by KateOctober 12, 2017

Mon mari managed to get a little work done without me here to supervise…. Although most of it is not photo worthy. More to the point, I’m not going into the cellar with my camera to take pictures of the plumbing he had to do to hook up two more radiators.  It has a low ceiling, dirt flour and creepy, crawly critters everywhere. Use your imagination.  He said it was … Continue reading →

Warm Savoy Cabbage and Leek Salad; aging furry friends, the Weekly Menu

Thyme for Cooking Posted on December 11, 2009 by KateAugust 16, 2013

Sedi, our little German Shepherd suffers from occasional (daily) incontinence. Well, actually, she doesn't suffer in the least.  She could give a rat's ass if she pees all over the place. I'm the one who suffers. I'm the one who wipes up and mops the puddles if we (the royal 'we') forget to take her out on a regular basis. That regular basis is about every 2 hours….. Day and … Continue reading →

Pasta with Avocado and Chevre; the Update

Thyme for Cooking Posted on August 25, 2009 by KateOctober 12, 2017

Lest you think mon mari is totally ignoring my kitchen cabinets…… He did manage to get 4 more doors done…. That would be 10 down, 18 to go.  But, who’s counting? He finished another ceiling, but this one was easy…. Just a bit of patching, sanding and a coat of white paint. Then, shall we say, he bent his attention to the floor. He filled in the gaps in the … Continue reading →

Pasta with Lamb and White Beans; Internet cook books, Weekly Menu

Thyme for Cooking Posted on April 10, 2009 by KateOctober 23, 2017

Pasta with Lamb and White Beans Do you read cook books? Do you have a stack next to the bed for when you wake up a bit peckish in the night? Do you collect them?  Old ones; new ones; by course; by food group; by food type…. Do you do research, then take the best bits out of a half dozen books to come up with whatever? The internet is … Continue reading →
