I got a seed catalog the other day….
We all know what that means: Spring is Coming !!!
And with warmer weather comes outdoor cooking and grilling chicken.
Ever since I watched Nigella Lawson spatchcock a chicken I’ve wanted to try it.
Okay, I’ve wanted mon mari to try it – he’s in charge of grilling, after all.
I’ve explained … Continue reading.....
I have decided to break my own, self-imposed rule about using instructional photos.
There is the old adage: ‘A picture is worth ten thousand words’.
I will, however, not post my few how-to photos before the recipe.
The reason I get so irritated with bloggers who post step-by-step-by-step photos on every recipe is that they post them before the recipe. … Continue reading.....
After having no salads from my potager last year I may have been a bit too enthusiastic when planning and planting this year.
Suffice it to say that I am quite happy the row of dark Romaine I planted didn’t come up.
We have been eating salads once, if not twice, every day for two months.

I probably didn’t post it … Continue reading.....

At least I think that is cheap…. I’ve bought it so rarely I really am … Continue reading.....
I have not been making pretty food lately
I have been making good food, however….. Appearances can be deceiving.
In this case I’ll blame it on the cook (mon mari).
He does warn to be careful once you start basting as the barbecue sauce can burn easily.
He did not burn ours. Even though it looks quite black it’s not … Continue reading.....
This is the chicken that I made to go with the Couscous Salad.
Actually, it was the other way around….. I came up with the chicken idea and wanted something fun to go with it.
We were very happy with both.
I use chicken thighs and legs, but any cut-up chicken, with the skin, would be fine. Even a … Continue reading.....
We’ve had a bumper crop of lettuce this year.
First we had the red and green curly heads that I planted from sets.
That was followed by the red and green ‘mesclun’ mix that I planted from seed.
We’re finishing with the red and green romaine that is slowest to grow and handles the warmer temperatures better than the other … Continue reading.....
