When I lived in the US it seemed the only acceptable way to eat spinach was with bacon…. Lots and lots of bacon.
We like spinach with bacon.
We also like it with just a sprinkle of fresh lemon juice.
This is quickly done and best if done at the last minute.
A sprinkling of lemon juice and … Continue reading.....
I don’t always use fresh vegetables; sometimes I use frozen.
There are a few vegetables, like peas, that are actually better frozen. Fresh peas and sweet corn deteriorate quickly after being picked. As they are frozen soon after harvest, frozen is better.
I love artichoke bottoms, but they are awfully fussy if one has to start with fresh … Continue reading.....
We don’t actually have Cornish Game Hens here in France. But we have little chickens or poussin.
They are under a pound in weight, usually about 14oz (420gr) and are a perfect single serving size – with maybe a bit leftover for a snack.

I never stayed up to watch it when I lived in the U.S…. And I hadn’t really planned on watching it here.
But, when I turned the news on at breakfast this morning, there it was.
I didn’t even realize that it was live until it was … Continue reading.....
Lots of serious grill aficianados think of steak, particularly, a big, thick T-Bone, as the ultimate summer dinner.
When we first moved to France we just assumed that the preference was for thin steaks as we never saw one more than 1/2" thick… And most were thinner.
Se we had a nice, thick steak cut by the butcher, … Continue reading.....
