Stuffed Meatloaf; confessions

Thyme for Cooking Posted on November 16, 2016 by KatieOctober 7, 2017

I have a confession to make…. I don’t often follow recipe instructions. Sometimes I don’t even read them. I saw this on a video on Facebook a few weeks ago: Stuffed Meatloaf, with cheese and spinach. It looked fun and easy so I decided to make it. The finished meatloaf was completely wrapped in bacon….. So American (she generalizes). Our bacon is not all that great when I can even … Continue reading →

Simple Meat Loaf, the update and a gadget

Thyme for Cooking Posted on March 11, 2015 by KatieOctober 7, 2017

Are you a meat loaf lover? Mon mari would happily eat it every day. Some people get excited about steak or lobster…. For him it’s meat loaf. I’m not sure which he likes best: the hot meat loaf the night I make it or the meat loaf sandwiches the next day. I’m rather fond of a meat loaf, pickle and ketchup sandwich myself…. This one is simple – it just … Continue reading →

Stuffed Mini MeatLoaf; Horse, anyone?

Thyme for Cooking Posted on February 15, 2013 by KatieOctober 7, 2017

I can’t buy ground veal or ground turkey or ground chicken here… And rarely see ground pork. Bulk sausage, yes, but not just ground pork. In Andorra I could find all of the above, as I’m sure you all can in the US. But not here. (Although current news shows are talking rather a lot about ground horse – more on that below.) That’s okay. We like beef. We don’t … Continue reading →

Cold Beef, Ham and Cheese Picnic Loaf

Thyme for Cooking Posted on August 29, 2012 by KatieOctober 7, 2017

When I first started making this I used regular, baked ham, ground, in equal amounts to the beef. I also made it big enough to serve 12 or 15 people. Now I just make it big enough for the two of us to have for a few meals. It's meant to be served cold, which means you can have thick slices to eat with bread and salad or thin slices … Continue reading →

Mediterranean Meat Loaf; the update

Thyme for Cooking Posted on April 12, 2010 by KatieOctober 7, 2017

The lower cabinets are finished! Once mon mari got started on the cabinet doors, and set up his ‘assembly line’ things went pretty quickly – relatively speaking. He finished the doors and drawer fronts for the rest of the lower cabinets. This was last June: And this is today:   There is a difference in some of the doors – they’ll all mellow into the same tones over time and … Continue reading →

Meat Loaf with Mushroom Sauce; Cleaning forest mushrooms: Ceps

Thyme for Cooking Posted on October 7, 2009 by KatieOctober 7, 2017

Our wonderful little green grocer has had fresh ceps the last 2 weeks.  They are expensive, 22 euro per kilo (about 14 dollars per pound)  but, since they don’t weigh much, a few euros worth can add a lot of flavor to a dish. They’re also large, ranging from 3 inches (7cm) to 5 inches (12cm) across. To clean them use a soft brush to get rid of any surface … Continue reading →

Mini Meat Loaves, The Weekly Menu Plan, and FOWP

Thyme for Cooking Posted on September 18, 2008 by KatieJanuary 12, 2018

Mini Meat Loaves FOWP Fear of White Paper It's an artist term, referring to the moment when one is looking at a brand new, squeaky clean, canvas or vellum, crayon or brush in hand, terrified to make that first, irretrievable mark. This morning I am suffering from FOWS: Fear of White Screen. Usually, I sign in to my blog, and start typing.  The words come, not always flowing… sometimes just … Continue reading →
