Ham and Spinach Quiche; the update

Thyme for Cooking Posted on December 26, 2011 by KatieOctober 23, 2017

Work continues, albeit at an ever-so-slightly slower pace this week. One has to make some concessions to the holidays, after all. And then, of course, there are the do-overs. Mon mari started laying the frame for the sub-floor this week. See those 2 holes? The one with the cable is the one mon mari made to attach the chandelier in the dining room. The one without the cable was made … Continue reading →

Potato, Ham and Broccoli Gratin; the update

Thyme for Cooking Posted on February 15, 2011 by KatieOctober 10, 2017

Exciting times chez nous…. We have a finished, painted wall in our soon-to-be bedroom! Okay, not quite finished… It still has the phone wire sticking out of the top that has to be tucked into the corner and run down the wall.  Remember, stone walls don’t allow things to be neatly hidden away.  That’s were the outside phone cable comes in…. Rather important. He’s started plastering the other wall, and … Continue reading →

Pasta with Ham, Spinach and Mascarpone; Houdini Dog

Thyme for Cooking Posted on June 17, 2010 by KatieFebruary 21, 2018

I haven’t been making pasta lately No, I’m not on a low-carb, no-carb or any other sort of diet. I’m on a new potato eating frenzy. In case you’ve never read this blog before….. We eat with the seasons.  And right now it’s new potato season. I picked up a box of a new (to me) kind last week – A.O.C. Like wine, and so many other things in France, … Continue reading →

Presto Pasta Nights: Week 161

Thyme for Cooking Posted on April 30, 2010 by KatieNovember 17, 2018

It's a cool, rainy day here in the Lot et Garonne…. Perfect for spending a bit of time drooling over pasta. And there is a lot to drool over this week. So, grab a napkin and your virtual fork and let's have at it: First in this week is Rachel, of The Crispy Cook.  She wasn't thrilled with her first exposure to cephalopods, but, when she saw squid in her … Continue reading →

Moroccan Chicken Stew for the Naan; the Update

Thyme for Cooking Posted on January 26, 2010 by KatieOctober 21, 2017

It’s been a fussy week, chez nous. When walls are going up or coming down progress is always dramatic.  But at some point all the finishing work has to get done. This week he did the trim around the ceiling, and started work on the fireplace.  A very poor extension was done on it at one point.  Originally all of our fireplaces were just cut out of the walls (2 … Continue reading →

Mushroom and Butternut Squash Risotto; Getting ready for winter

Thyme for Cooking Posted on October 19, 2009 by KatieNovember 6, 2019

The weather turned cool last week, unseasonably early for us.  We even had a frost! The days were still sunny and warm, which sent us outside to finish getting ready for winter. In another words, other than getting the boiler (furnace) functioning and the radiators hooked up there was no progress inside this week. And we’re still waiting for the stairs.  They’ll be installed in September. As you may or … Continue reading →
