I can't believe they're 2 years old!
It seems like only yesterday that they were lost in the sunflowers…. And we were still able to carry them home.
I couldn't carry either one now – although they could probably carry me.
We (that would be the 'royal we') decided to take official birthday portraits.
Happy Birthday, Bonnie.… Continue reading.....
No recipe today.
Sometimes we eat food that really isn't worthy of a post.
Sometimes we eat food that a lot of people wouldn't.
In the first category is sausages and sauerkraut, or choucroute garni.
We get excellent kraut here, at the deli counter. When I bought sauerkraut in the US, it came in a can and was so strong … Continue reading.....
The puppies have a wild hair up their asses…..
But more about that later.
First, the food.
You know how certain foods are just meant for each other?
Red beans and rice, burgers and fries, fish and chips, turkey and dressing to name a few.
For me it’s baked ham and sweet potatoes.
Other ham, fried ham or grilled ham, … Continue reading.....
First the pig:
This is the ham that Núria (of Spanish Recipes) brought for me.

While the other dogs recognised the girls as being members of the family, they apparently thought they needed some lessons in proper manners.
On our first walk Ghenghis rolled Bonnie off the side of the road.
Being in the mountains, the side … Continue reading.....
We're off, doggies and humans, to visit our friend in Spain.
That's his house.
There is no internet access in the village – they have radio phones. There are no cables up that high.
Even my mobile doesn't work.
I will be cut off from everything but this little village for 4 days….
Do you think, just maybe, I can … Continue reading.....
They're big girls now – full-fledged dogs, er, bitches.
Well, not Bonnie.
Bonnie is the devil.
This used to be a bed of iris.
There were 4 different colors.
They were all beautiful.
They were just getting ready to bloom.
First, Bonnie ate all she could, then came in the house and threw it all up at my … Continue reading.....
They are no longer puppies.
They have graduated to full-fledged dogs.
Their behavior has not changed one bit.
I had such (albeit foolish) hopes that they would, somehow, magically, become calm and obedient when they turned one.
In honor of their birthday they got me a present.
Well, okay, they didn't… but they would have if they could have.… Continue reading.....
