Meatball Chard Soup

I love soup as everyone knows. Mon mari loves meatballs – as does most of the rest of the world, including me. He is not very fond of having soup as a main course. Always one to look for compromise, meatball soup is a favorite at our house. I make several different kinds. This one is for fall, when the chard gives one last growth spurt before I pull it … Continue reading →

Tomato Vegetable Soup

I love soup. I love both European and American style soups. Wait…. You didn’t know there was a difference? Allow me to explain – with a story. We had been on this side of the pond for 2 or 3 years and were living in Andorra. It was about this time of year and our golfing group had just had the ‘end of season’ tournament and lunch. We were invited … Continue reading →

When the freezer is full and so are the tomato plants….. I make soup. The yellow tomatoes are still producing like crazy while the red and green tomatoes have more or less retired. This … Continue reading →

Ground Beef, Barley Vegetable Soup; winter soups and winter

Thyme for Cooking Posted on February 5, 2012 by KateOctober 12, 2017

Soup. I like soup. I like soups and stews and gravy and foods with lots of sauce. Mon mari likes grilled meat, potatoes or rice with butter and steamed vegetables. I’m changing him, slowly….. In the meantime I take advantage of being on my own by making a big pot of my favorite soup, whatever that happens to be at the time…. Usually it involves cleaning out the fridge. Lest … Continue reading →

Beef Vegetable Soup and My Mother’s Cooking

Thyme for Cooking Posted on January 22, 2008 by KateAugust 25, 2013

Go directly to recipe I may have mentioned that, while my mother was a good cook, she was not the least bit creative or adventurous. For Sunday Dinner we either had chicken or beef roast, with the occasional pork roast thrown in, just to be different.  Each was fixed in it's own unique, delicious, but never changing way.  Ham and Turkey were the holiday foods.  Week nights were pork chops … Continue reading →
